my new obsession is death deadness la morte the end le fin shuffling off the
mortal coil leaving this vale of tears

not surprising. i'm always obsessed with some thing or other: quail eggs, cashmere, 12th century saints, freud, breech birth, the altar at pergamom, coco chanel, children, childhood, menses, yogurt, claude troisgros, brackets v. braces. this death thing is incredibly elegant and all consuming. it will be interesting to see where it leads.
in other news, mr. mento has made a very public pronouncement. of course, my response to this sort of thing is to do the complete opposite. i did get a giggle out of the laid off dad's comment: "you are always ahead of the curve." in the olden days when someone said he was going to do something because others had, we called that following the crowd. see how times change? now when you are doing what everyone else is doing, you are an original. so much simpler.
